Working in short iterations taking small steps is of course the way to go, but how did you ensure that the progress you made was enough to finish until the go live date?
It is a long story, but the bottom line is that we focused on the thing we wished to achieve: avoiding our issues with the 4 digit number to stop us from onboarding new clients.
Instead of focusing to execute the plan, we focused on all options to meet our objective. We found options to win time, like re-using client numbers (from clients that stopped dealing with us more than 10 years ago).
