I don’t see the direct connection with why Scrum shouldn’t be the endgame. And what an endgame anyway in a living organisation.

I agree with you that you need to have an understanding of what Agile and/or Scrum entails before working according to the principles/working with it. This is the case for the whole ecosystem. A few rotten apples (people that willingly ignore or are not grasping what it entails can ruin it for all.
